Trips

It was an interesting week. We had a couple of fun trips I had to share.

When I went to pick-up Karissa from school her teacher informed me that Miss Karissa had taken a trip to the Director's office. Apparently Karissa and Kayley were fighting over a toy. Then one thing led to another and the girls slugged it out. When the fighting stopped and the teacher came over and asked what was going on, Karissa promptly replied, "None of your beeswax!" That little comment bought her a ticket time-out and eventually lead to the School Director's office.

Needless to say I was mortified. When we got to the car I expressed my disappointment and asked her what she and the Preschool Director chatted about. Karissa said, "I don't remember, but it was super fun!" (Me shaking my head.) This child leaves me speechless.

Our next adventure was to Trader Joes. Usually this trip with both kids in tow ensures my anxiety level will surpass Level 10 by the time we hit the first aisle. Addi never stays in the cart and all Karissa wants to do is hang out at the little kitchenette area eating and checking out the girls that look like boys. (That's a story for another time.)

We were moving through the store rather quickly. I was elated when we made it to the fruit and veggie section without a meltdown and both girls still in/next to the cart. As I grabbed some bananas, Karissa loudly blurted out the following; "Mom did I come out of your tummy or your.....ya know?" I quickly scanned the perimeter and there was several other shoppers all staring at us. One young lady had her mouth covered laughing hysterically. Not sure where to go with this one I replied, "My tummy." Without hesitation Karissa responded, "Did they use a needle and thread to sew up your tummy?" Me-"...Yes." Karissa continued, "What kind of thread did they use? Is it the disappearing kind?" "Yes", I replied.

By this point I was beet red and decided to open some mini blueberry muffins and shove one in her mouth. The other shoppers were all pretending not to stare but I could feel their eyes on me and hear their chuckles. We headed to the front of the store and checked out as quickly as possible. The blueberry muffin trick worked she dropped the whole thing and hasn't mentioned it since.

Matt and I have no idea how these thoughts pop into her head. We know one thing for sure, they are quite entertaining.

It's back to work I go...well sort of

As a result of a little piece of Good Mail, I got a phone call from a brilliant lady I used to work with at Pleasant Holidays. She had some part-time work for me at the new company she works for and asked if I was interested. After much consideration and the benefit of working part-time with flexible hours, I went for it. The company is http://www.rockymountaineer.com

I'm thrilled to be back in the travel industry. Guess I have to stop laying on the couch and eating bon-bons all day.

No can do!

Last night before we tucked Karissa in her bed, Matt and I sat her down for a "serious" talk. Our little darling has been sneaking in our bed for longer than I care to admit. In the past Matt and I have disagreed on enforcing the Sleep in your own bed rule. Things are starting to change now that Karissa is almost 5, she is getting taller and her presence in our bed ensures that both Matt and I get a lousy nights sleep.
(-Que serious tone) "Karissa you are almost 5 now and big girls that are starting Kindergarten need to sleep in their own beds." I said. Matt went on to say that neither of us sleep well and when he doesn't sleep well he is tired all day. We also tried to lay on the guilt when we mentioned that Addison is sad when she wakes up and doesn't see her big sister in her bed. Karissa just starred at us with her big brown eyes and replied, "No Can Do!"
As usual Matt and I were speechless.

Sunday Thoughts

This morning as I was getting Karissa in the car for church, I noticed the driver door was ajar. Being the crazed mother I am, I really didn't think anything of it until I noticed the glove compartment was open, all the cell phone car chargers on the passenger seat and the center console of my Tahoe was opened with my CD case missing. Argggghhhh. Matt inadvertently left the car unlocked last night after picking up some pizza.

At first I was happy that nothing else was gone like carseats, my lipstick (very important when you find the right color) and the kids DVD's. Then after I thought about this longer I became sad and angry. You see both Matt and I are beyond OCD about keeping our cars locked and doors to the house locked at all times. The one time we leave the car door unlocked then our car gets broken in to. My CD collection is beyond lame but they were mine.

As I mentioned earlier we were on our way to church and I can tell you that I wasn't feeling very churchy. To make matters worse it was my Sunday to teach the lesson in R.S. on the Holy Ghost. After lots of prayers I made through church and gave my lesson. The anger of my missing stuff is gone and now I'm just bummed.

Here comes Peter Cottontail

We hope that you had a wonderful Easter. We had a blast spending the weekend at the Beach and enjoyed lots of time with family and friends. Sadly we had no beach because of high tides. We made excellent use of the deck, climbed on rocks and got some much needed sun.
It was bliss!

Somethin' Fishy is going on

We enjoyed some fishy fun at Holden's birthday party. The kids had a blast and no one went swimming. Karissa caught 2 fish with her daddy. After they were cleaned and on ice we promptly drove them to my brother Matt to be cooked. I'm working on my cooking skills and trout hasn't made it on my list yet.

Knuckleheads!

Cousins, Cowgirls and just plain Cuteness

Kayla came to visit for her 30th birthday and we went to brunch at The Shores.
Milloy was our photographer for the event so all the pictures are at his level.

Linnae, Randall, Addi and you can almost see Betsy.

It was Wild West week at school. Check out these cute Cowgirls on their horses.

Here's my just plain cuteness! Addi strolling an egg with her shades on.
